Killer High Life - Killer High Life album cover

There may not be a harder working band in Milwaukee than Killer High Life. Not only do they play a ton of shows, but they have a knack for playing a ton of killer(!) shows. And they have a blast doing it. Thankfully they did not wait too long between releasing their debut EP (2024’s Road Beer) and their self-titled full-length. Both are available on Bandcamp and streaming.

And the songs! This band writes catchy, inspirational and important songs. Singer/guitarist Brennan Deshotel has a knack for telling it like it is while maintaining a sense of humor to deal with a plethora of heavy topics. Literally any topic is fair game and this is an album best enjoyed wearing headphones and allowing KHL to take you on a journey.

Lawrence Gann did an impeccable job capturing the songs with accuracy and all of the energy of a KHL live show. Drummer Adam Belker always plays the perfect part for each song, bringing equal parts of energy and dynamic range to maximize the range of emotions being expressed.  Bassist Adelaide Light White accomplishes the same synergy in each song with a bass sound that never overpowers a song but delivers the low end we all need to truly feel the song’s essence in our bones. And the backing vocals are big time awesome fun to scream at the top of your lungs (if you feel so inclined).

If you have the chance to see Killer High Life live, please go see this band. Buy their merch. Slap some high fives. And don’t sleep on the bands that they play with. Some bands have a knack for booking great shows and building community and that’s a special thing. The world needs more bands like Killer High Life right now.
